281-970-4545 ext. 188
Luis earned a B.S. in Physics, magna cum laude, with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Houston in 2018. He later earned an M.S. in Applied Physics from Rice University in 2022 and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Rice University in 2025. His graduate research spanned biomedical devices, advanced materials, electromagnetic systems, and machine-learning-assisted analysis. His doctoral work included the development and characterization of bioinspired materials for cardiovascular applications, electromagnetic methods for controlling nanomaterial organization, and machine learning methods for analyzing heart valve biomechanics.
Prior to joining Fletcher Yoder, Luis gained experience across academic research, medical-device development, startup technology, and applied machine learning. He contributed to the development and evaluation of an early-stage surgical-device concept, worked with a medical-technology startup on implantable vascular materials and data analysis, and served as a GEM Fellow in applied machine learning at NASA, where his work involved medical imaging and ultrasound-data analysis. He also participated in NSF I-Corps programs focused on customer discovery and the commercialization of emerging technologies.
Luis joined Fletcher Yoder in 2026 as a Technical Advisor. He assists with patent preparation and prosecution involving a broad range of technologies, with particular interests in electrical and software systems, artificial intelligence and machine learning, RF and electromagnetic systems, semiconductor and sensing technologies, medical devices, and advanced materials.
