Cathy HewittCathy graduated cum laude from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. While pursuing her degree, she worked at Pfizer in Terre Haute, Indiana where she gained experience in penicillin manufacturing, packaging, and fermentation processing. Her projects included the installation of an aseptic, powder fill line, the implementation of a Total Organic Carbon water monitoring program, and the creation of a spreadsheet program for monitoring fermentation feed rates. After completing her bachelor’s degree in 2000, Cathy joined Ethicon, Inc. in San Angelo, Texas as an Associate Engineer responsible for managing endoscopic medical device production lines. During this time she supported the development of a foil packaging process for suture and cannula devices and was recognized with three Standards of Leadership Awards. At Ethicon, Cathy also worked as a Supply Chain Quality Engineer responsible for incoming needle quality and finished goods testing. She supported the redesign of point geometry for cardiovascular needles and received her Six Sigma Process Excellence Greenbelt for improving the needle rinse process. Cathy’s other duties related to heat treating, annealing, sterilization, and packaging technologies. Prior to attending law school, Cathy worked as a contractor for Jacobs Engineering performing validation for the upgrade of a pharmaceutical manufacturing building and reviewing process and instrumentation drawings (P&ID). While in law school, Cathy worked as a contractor for Boston Scientific, developing catheter, sheath, stent, and dilator product specifications. Cathy also served as an Articles Editor for the Indiana Law Review. In May of 2007, Cathy graduated, summa cum laude, and subsequently passed the July 2007 Texas Bar Exam. Cathy joined Fletcher Yoder in the fall of 2007 after clerking with the firm the previous summer. Her areas of focus include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, computer hardware and software, and medical systems and devices. |
